Our second annual Gala Day is just around the corner. Last years event was a great success and hundreds of local people joined us on Cheviot Street Rec to enjoy a fun day. We will be having a parade again, starting at the Lonny Wilsoncroft Community Centre, travelling down Stanley Street, Morley Street, onto Hawke Street, and into the Park on Cheviot Street. There will be a Jumble Sale on Saturday 4th June beginning at 3.00pm \'til 4.30pm. Plenty of bargains to be had. Refreshments on sale. Come along and join the fun and help us raise money for our Kitchen Installation.

On Monday 30th May 2011 The New Zealand Community Association will be holding a sponsored walk on Markeaton Park in aid of the Kitchen Installation Fund. This is an event for all the family, young and old alike. The course starts just outside the Orangery, around to the duck pond, passed the toilets, around the back of the tennis courts and back towards and through the Orangery. You can do as many laps as you like up to 10. Come and collect a sponsor form from the Nearly New Zealand Charity Shop or the Lonny Wilsoncroft Community Centre. The day started at 10.00am, when the doors of the Lonny Wilsoncroft were opened to the public for our first event using our new big screen and projector. Around 60 people attended the event, along with a reporter and photographer from the Derby Telegraph. We sat down and settled in to watch the big event at 11.00am. What a beautiful bride and an outstanding occasion! We showed the world what we do best! After the ceremony the buffet was opened and all enjoyed the lovely food. April 29th is a day for all our diaries. We will be holding an indoor street party on the day of the Royal Wedding. Proceedings will begin at 10.00am. We will watch the wedding on our big screen, followed by a buffet meal. We will provide the sandwiches, you bring a plate of something to share! There will be a licensed bar and following the buffet there will be a disco, with games and fun for all the family.
